PG&E’s Operations and Meteorology teams are monitoring a strong wind event forecasted to bring elevated wildfire risk to the Sierra, Southern Central Coast and portions of the North and East Bay.  Offshore Diablo winds are expected to peak Thursday across Northern and Central Sierra, including portions of the North and East Bay.  Mono winds are projected to be strongest on Friday in the Southern Sierra, with Santa Ana winds expanding into Southern Los Padres and across the Tehachapi Mountains on Friday.  The strongest winds are expected in the South, with very low relative humidity and dry vegetation across most affected areas. Strong winds, combined with low humidity and dry vegetation, are creating elevated fire danger across the affected areas.

At approximately 1730 on Wednesday, we began de-energizing customers in portions of Alameda, Contra Costa, Lassen and Shasta counties and will continue through early morning, Thursday, October 15. A second wave of de-energizations, focused on Central Coast and Southern portions of our service Area, will start Friday morning.
